Unofficial Device Features/Hacks

If you are interested in getting VocalTec’s phone service or already have it you can see the list below that shows some of the ‘unofficial’ features of the device. These are features that are not openly advertised or talked about by the company but ones that you can in fact use if you know what you are doing. We aren’t exactly sure how to activate all of these features and cannot guarantee that using them is within the terms of service but they are all features that we have seen people on the Internet talk about using.

If you are looking to use any of these features some can be used by downloading a 3rd party from acompany is not affiliated with the official company in anyway and we have not tested their plugin/software but they have plugins for several different VoIP providers.

If you are just looking for the devices basic features they can be seen on our official features page.

  • I use the Magicfeatures plugin and just wanted to add that it also provides Caller ID with Name, Call Waiting Caller ID and 7 Digit Local Area Dialing. These features are not included with the basic magicJack offering.

  • Here is the complete list of features added by the Magicfeatures plugin that are not included with the basic magicJack offering:

    Caller ID with Name
    Call Waiting Caller ID
    Talking Caller ID
    7 Digit Local Area Dialing
    Voice Mail (dial 98)
    Speed Dial (dial 1-50)
    Last Number Redial (dial 66)
    Call Return (dial 69)
    Cancel Call Waiting (dial 70)
    Call Forwarding (dial 72/73)
    Anonymous Call Block (dial 77/87)
    Do Not Disturb (dial 78/79)
    Priority Calls Only (dial 64/84)
    Selective Call Rejection
Blocked Call Chime with Caller ID
    Priority Call Special Ringing
    Priority Call Waiting
    Call Waiting Disable
    Automated Extension Dialing
    Automated Phone Card Dialing
    Double Ringing for Answer Mach.
    Call Location Lookup
    Call Recording

  • I am assuming that the plugin will only work with the original MJ, and not the MJPlus, which plugs into the router (unless the MJPlus is plugged into the computer, which defeats the purpose of the MJP)?

  • ~ A Soldiers dream come true

"Chris - I am a Soldier in the US Army deployed to Iraq.  When I first came out I was without a MagicJack, never heard of it. I had problems after problems communicating with my wife back in the States, AT&T too expensive right along with other offered connections to the US. I've tried the Military Moral calls and that was a 50/50 shot getting connected and when you finally were connected, no notice dropped calls 5, 10 minutes into it.  Not a good feeling at all trust me. Long story short...There's this old saying in the Army, "The Army pays you $100 and take back $99". I returned home on my R&R trip and heard about the gadget and what it could do. Purchased it from Radio Shack bought a cheap hand held phone, returned back to Iraq, hooked it up to my computer and have enjoyed hours of conversations with my wife, family and friends, for no more than $89 (the 5 year package), no monthly payments. I will tell you, I have saved more than a Dollar this time around investing it. Thank you"
